REGIONAL PASTORAL COUNCIL (RPC)

OF THE SOUTH REGION

OF THE DIOCESE OF LAFAYETTE

INTRODUCTION:

We, the people of God as living members of the body of Jesus, recognize and affirm that we are called with our many gifts to build the Father's kingdom on earth in prophetical, priestly and kingly ministry.  We accept Jesus as Lord of our lives, our families and our church parishes.  We acknowledge that in all things we must seek the Holy Spirit's guidance in following and implementing the spirit and direction of the Second Vatican Council.  We therefore join together as laity, religious, deacons and priests working toward that common goal with our Bishop and his Episcopal Vicar for the South Region.

PURPOSE:

  • The Council shall serve as an advisory and recommending body to the Vicar in matters relating to the pastoral priorities, policies and ministries of the Region.
  • All actions of the Council, once ratified by the Vicar, shall be conveyed by the Vicar to the Bishop and to each Pastor of the Region, with copies to each parish pastoral council for appropriate discussion and recommendation to its Pastor for action as he judges best.
  • The council also shall promote a sharing of news about diocesan, regional, and parochial programs and activities.
